Acer Aspire 6530
Ich habe mir ein neues Acer Aspire 6530 Notebook gekauft und wollte mal ein paar Worte drüber schreiben.
Das Notebook zuhause, war ja natürlich Vista Home drauf welches ich solange nutzt bis die Recovery DVDs gebrannt waren und ich formatieren konnte. Da ich ja geplant hatte wie gehabt Gentoo aus einem Stage3 Tarball zu bauen, dachte ich mir erstmal Fedora zu booten um daheraus das Gentoo-System aufzusetzen.
Problem war, der ATI Chipsatz (ATI Technologies Inc Mobilitiy Radeon HD 3400 Series) wurde nicht erkannt und auch mit dem Vesa Treiber ist der X nicht angelaufgen.
Nach Fedora, habe ich nun sehr viele weitere Distributionen getestet. Dabei waren Ubuntu 8.10, Debian bis ich dann Altlinux (eine Russische Distribution) von einer Linuxuser-DVD testete und dort das Notebook mit kompletter Hardware unterstützung lief. Webcam, WLan, Ethernet (wobei der Ethernetchipsatz auch auf den meisten Distributionen nicht lief), ATI, etc.
Problem an Altlinux war, jetzt hatte ich einen Grafischen Server am laufen, aber ich hatte ein 32-Bit System am laufen und wollte ja via chroot später Gentoo-64Bit bauen. Da ich auch keine Rohlinge mehr hatte, habe ich schnell noch ein paar USB-Sticks gebaut und habe dann von Frugalware 64Bit aus, mein Gentoo aufgesetzt.
Das schnellste wäre gewesen, wenn ich einfach via TAR über SSH mein altes Gentoo klonen hätte können, nur dieses wäre nicht gegangen, da ich zu sehr den Compiler an meinen Prozessor optimiert hatte.
Als ich mir dann den Kernel baute und konfiguiert hatte, habe ich zum ersten mal gesehen, dass die Module atl1e (Atheros Gigabit Ethernet) und ath9k (Atheros 802.11n WLan) noch als Experimentel markiert sind (im Kernel 2.6.27) und aus dem Grund keinen Platz auf den ganzen Distributionen gefunden hatte die ich alle getestet habe.
Die Chipsätze sind alle sehr neu, aber funktionieren tut jetzt alles und mein Gentoo ist aufgesetzt und rennt bestens.

Ja das stimmt schon, liegt halt an den neuen Chipsätzen, aber man kann es auch unter diesen zum laufen bekommen. Am einfachsten hat man es als OpenSUSE Benutzer da die 11.1 super läuft.
