Persönlich mag ich kein Java. Scheint aber ganz nett und gut zu sein. Matthias hatte mir auch etwas darüber erzählt.

So selten wie ich encodiere reicht für mich mencoder. In Shell Skripts passt mencoder wunderbar und es gäbe auch GUI's wenn man diese nutzen möchte.

Das was ich wirklich toll an Handbrake finde und was es von allen mir bekannten Tools abhebt ist, dass es eine Auto-Crop Funktion hat. Heißt es schneidet automatisch alles schwarze drumherum ab, und das hat bisher immer TOP geklappt und am Ende stimmt das Seitenverhältnis immernoch! Habe z.B. mit Avidemux die Erfahrung gemacht, wenn man da was wegschneidet, dass das Bild verzerrt ist. Java hin oder her, das Tool ist eine wahre Freude ;-)

crop wegschneiden kann man auch mit mplayer und mencoder nur nicht automatiert.

bei mplayer und mencoder geht das, wenn mplayer den film mit der option -vf cropdetect startet und an einer stelle wo das bild auch gefüllt ist, kann man dann sehen, wie gross die bildfläche ist. sehen tut man dann sowas wie crop=1920:816:0:0 welches dann in mencoder als -vf crop=1920:816:0:0 genutzt werden kann.

es ist halt wichtig, das ein crop wert genommen wird, wo auch das ganze bild verwendet wird, da sonst weitere schwarze bereiche an den äusseren rändern mit berechnet werden.

Ich wusste bis ich diesen Thread gerade gelesen habe gar nicht, das HandBrake auf Java läuft, weil's irgendwie gar nicht so aussieht, im Gegensatz zu Wua.la, wo man genau merkt das es Java ist ! Verlangsamt auch nicht den PC, wenn es nur geöffnet ist.
Das Tool läuft wirklich 1a und für jemanden der mal eben schnell eine DVD rippen will, genau das Richtige !
Wieso soll ich mir die Arbeit mit MEncoder machen, ich habe mir das zwar alles durch gelesen und es läuft auch mit MEncoder, allerdings bin ich zu blöd mir dazu noch ein Script zu basteln, was umständlich wird.
Wieso nicht einfach HandBrake nehmen......
